Turin Transfer Market: The Granata Are on High Alert After Gineitis’ Comments

He had been identified as one of the players who might leave Torino’s roster this summer, but in the end, Gvidas Gineitis remained with the Granata for this season as well. Several Premier League clubs, Salzburg, and Celtic—which had made a concrete move for him—were interested in signing him.

But talks may have simply been postponed until January. From the Lithuanian national team’s training camp, the player himself fueled doubts about his future in Turin in an interview with the local newspaper 15min.lt, in which he expressed openness to a move away from Italy.

“Celtic? It would be an interesting and positive experience; it would be stimulating to test myself at that level, at a club like that. But right now, I’m where I am. If Torino wanted to sell me and another club wanted to buy me, the question would be how much they’d offer me to play there. It all depends on my final decision.”

Regarding his current situation at Torino, Gineitis had this to say: “I want to play better, to do everything better. There will always be pressure; it’s a part of life in soccer, and I’m used to it.”
