Kickoff is at 8:45 p.m. for Greece vs. Germany, a match in the fourth round of Group 2 in League A of the 2026–2027 Nations League. The Greeks are surprisingly atop the group thanks to victories over Serbia and Germany—the latter defeated in the first leg on the road. In their most recent match, however, they drew at home against the Netherlands. Klopp’s team is looking for redemption in Athens: they currently have 4 points thanks to the draw with the Netherlands and the victory over Serbia.

The hosts will be without Tzolis, who is injured. Ioannidis and Pavlidis are expected to start up front, with Karetsas and Masouras on the wings. The two midfielders are Androutsos and Kourbelis.

Germany, too, must deal with several absences: Burkardt is expected to start up front, while Gnabry, Wirtz, and Mala will play in the attacking midfield.

Greece vs. Germany: Probable Lineups
Greece (4-4-2): Tzolakis; Saliakas, Mavropanos, Retsos, Tsimikas; Karetsas, Androutsos, Kourbelis, Masouras; Ioannidis, Pavlidis. Head Coach: Jovanovic.

Klopp praised Greece at a press conference: “From my perspective—though I don’t know every team from the last 20 years in detail—this could be a golden generation. They’re all good players, they’re all fast, and they all score.”
