Max Verstappen is blunt about Ferrari: “What’s the point?”

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen spoke about a possible future as a Ferrari driver in an interview with the Press Association. The four-time world champion has often been linked to the Maranello team, but no concrete offer has ever actually come in for the Dutchman, who has been with Red Bull since the start of his career.

On the eve of the Singapore Grand Prix, Verstappen, as usual, didn’t mince words: “Me at Ferrari? My only goal is to win. I’m not a romantic type, and I have a great deal of respect for the Ferrari brand. But if that means giving it my all just to finish fifth or sixth, what would be the point?”

Verstappen has extended his contract with Red Bull through 2030 and strongly believes in the Austrian team: “I’m very performance-oriented, and I’ve already won a lot with this team. Red Bull is like a second family to me, and the challenge of rebuilding everything drives me forward.”

Max approves of the new post-Horner era: “I like how things are going now, considering everyone’s behavior. It’s all less stressful now. Horner? He’s proven he’s done a good job, and if a good opportunity comes along, I’m sure he’ll be back.”

His father, Jos Verstappen, speaking to De Telegraaf, commented on his son’s victory at Sepang: “After all the mess this year, this victory is truly fantastic. It’s a huge boost for the whole team, for everyone who spends hours at the factory. They found something, and suddenly a lot of things started working again. At the start of the year, they were still a second behind. I think Max can fight for more wins for the rest of the season.”
