Cagliari Holds Juventus to a Draw: 1-1 at Unipol Domus

Cagliari holds Juventus to a 1-1 draw at the Unipol Domus. Maldini put the Rossoblù ahead on his birthday, Kolo Muani equalized in the second half, and then in the closing minutes, the Frenchman hit the crossbar, followed by the ejection of Spalletti and Pisacane after the final whistle.
Juventus threatened Caprile’s goal as early as the first minute, but Celik’s attempt was blocked by Mina for a corner. The Bianconeri then tried their luck from distance with Sarr and Conceicao, but failed to find the net. For the Rossoblù, Massolin was very active between the lines, while Mendy remained isolated up front. In the 15th minute, Gonzalez, alone in the center of the box, had a golden opportunity to give the Bianconeri the lead, but he struck the ball with his knee and sent it wide.
Four minutes later, however, it was the Rossoblù who scored. Maldini steals the ball in the attacking third, exchanges passes with Obert, and takes an initial shot. The defense blocks it, Mendy picks up the rebound and lays it off to Maldini, who, on his birthday, beats his former teammate Vicario to make it 1-0. In the 31st minute, Winks tests Vicario with a long-range shot. Juventus threatened again toward the end of the first half, but Caprile preserved the Rossoblù’s lead.
In the second half, play was concentrated mainly in midfield until the 62nd minute, when Fadera, who had just come on, broke down the left and found himself one-on-one with Vicario, who made the save for Juventus. A minute later, Zhegrova responded with a curling shot that Caprile dove to stop. Cagliari defends well and threatens on the counterattack, while Juventus struggles to turn its higher possession into scoring chances.
In the 81st minute, however, the equalizer comes: Kolo Muani heads Alajbegović’s cross into the net. Three minutes later, the Bianconeri nearly took the lead: Kolo Muani, alone in front of Caprile, struck a volley, but the ball hit the crossbar without crossing the goal line. In the 91st minute, Romano tried to respond from the attacking third but failed to hit the target.
The match ends in a 1-1 draw. After the final whistle, Spalletti walks toward Pisacane in a confrontational manner. The Rossoblù coach greets him, but the tension does not escape the referee’s notice, who sends both players off.
