Gianmarco Pozzecco’s tenure at Galatasaray has come to an end. According to Turkish media reports, the Istanbul club and the former Italian national team coach have decided to part ways following their latest league loss to Bursaspor—their third consecutive defeat, including the heavy loss to Cibona Zagreb in the Champions League.

Pozzecco, who had been with Galatasaray for 10 months, endured a tense evening and protested vehemently against the referees in the final minutes of the game. No official announcement has been made yet, but according to Turkish media, the situation is now settled.

Pozzecco joined Galatasaray on December 31 and had signed a contract valid through the end of this season. However, executive Vladimir Micov, who had brought him to Istanbul, parted ways with the Turkish club over the summer, putting the former Varese coach’s position in jeopardy.

The former head coach of the Italian national team and former coach of Asvel, Dinamo Sassari, Fortitudo Bologna, and Varese could thus soon return to coaching in the Italian league, where he has been absent since 2022, when he left his position as assistant coach at Olimpia Milano.
