Jorge Martin: The initial test results are a real blow; Aprilia doesn’t mince words

The battle for the MotoGP World Championship may have reached one of its decisive moments at Phillip Island. Jorge Martín was, in fact, forced to throw in the towel after a crash during the Sprint Race of the Australian Grand Prix, and the initial reports from the hospital are not encouraging at all.
Aprilia itself clarified the situation with a statement that leaves little room for interpretation: “Jorge Martín was transported to the hospital after the crash. X-rays revealed a fracture of the radius and a possible fracture of the ulna in the distal end of his right arm. Martín will undergo further tests for a definitive diagnosis. He has been declared unfit to race in tomorrow’s race.”
The incident occurred on the eighth lap of the Sprint Race, when the Spaniard was locked in a head-to-head battle for first place with Marc Márquez. After crashing at Turn 8, Martín was taken to the circuit’s medical center and subsequently to the hospital for further evaluation.
The only certainty at this point is that Martín will not be on the starting grid for Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix. This is terrible news for the rider and for the Noale-based team, especially given the schedule: in a week, the World Championship will already be in Malaysia, and the Spaniard’s participation there is inevitably in serious doubt.
