A victory that risks being overshadowed by yet another serious injury. The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 108-101, but the evening was marred by a dramatic incident involving Jalen Williams, who was forced to leave the court on a stretcher after injuring his left leg. The footage immediately raised fears of a serious injury, with teammates and opponents visibly shaken.

The injury occurred with 1:14 remaining in the game, during an offensive play in which Williams was attempting to drive to the rim for a dunk. After making contact with Kris Dunn, the player landed awkwardly on his left leg, which became pinned under his body’s weight. The referee initially called a foul, which was upgraded to a Flagrant 1 after a video review. Medical personnel responded immediately, and play was halted for about five minutes.

Among those most shaken was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder’s leader, who struggled to hold back tears after the game. “I really feel for him,” he said, emphasizing how difficult it will be to play without such an important teammate. The Canadian star nevertheless sought to convey confidence: Williams will return, and the team will have to hold on until his return.

The concern is even greater given the player’s history of injuries. Williams, 25, already missed 49 games last season due to various physical issues, primarily with his hamstrings, in addition to being hampered by wrist problems. After playing a decisive role in Oklahoma City’s NBA title win in 2025, he had returned to the court with the goal of once again being a key player.

Now the Thunder are awaiting test results and updates from the medical staff to determine the true extent of the problem. The risk of a very long layoff is real, but at the moment there is no official confirmation regarding the diagnosis or recovery timeline.
