According to the Associated Press, LeBron James is the Sportsman of the Year for the titanic feat of a more-than-impossible (1/3) historic comeback against the Warriors to give his native Cleveland its first title in 52 years with a social commitment to reviving the city and the local economy and Ohio, the state that has given the U.S. so many presidents and that one day not far away may be thinking about the “Chosen One” for the White House.

This is the second time King James has won the AP Oscar of the Year, and 48 hours shy of his 32nd birthday with the makings of equaling or beating the 3 trophies won by Micheal Jordan (’91-’94). His figure has dominated the sports supermen crowned by the Rio Olympics, this expresses the value of his feat considered by AP voters to be of a magnitude addrittura higher than even the Five Rings greats.

The Top Ten rankings: 1. LeBron James p.24 (USA, NBA basketball, Cavaliers), 2. Michael Phelps p.16 (USA, swimming, 5 medals in Brazil, 23 gold at end of career), 3. Usain Bolt p.9 (Jamaica, track and field, double in the 100 and 200), 4 .Stephen Curry p.3 (NBA basketball, season MVP and various individual records, Warriors), 5. Krys Brian p.3 (USA,baseball, National League MVP, Chicago Cubs);6. Cristiano Ronaldo p.1 (Portugal, soccer, European champion), Von Miller p.1 ( Usa Denver Broncos American Football), Andrew Murray p.1 (Great Britain, winner of Wimbledon and gold in the Olympic tournament in London and Rio), Matt Centrowitz (USA, track and field, winner of the 1500 in Rio).

“It spurred me on to try to be dominant in the NBA , to prove what I’ve been able to do over the years, especially this season when I had the water at my throat,” he explained making it clear that everyone had given him up for defeat by then and he rose again with a memorable triple in Game 7 and an incredible stoppage on Iguodala who was flying to the basket to score the winning 2 points.

“This means,” James added, “being able to demonstrate the kind of possession that allows you to dominate when you know that the whole movement is preparing to beat you and only you are still able to confirm that you are No. 1 and still the top of the competitive chain, a very inspiring picture indeed.”

“In those days,” James confessed, saying he was inspired by the figure of Cassius Clay, “I felt fulfilled. Knowing the history of our sport helped me, as did remembering that sometimes heartbreaking challenge of our fans for half a century through many circumstances, so this opportunity could not be missed, even if difficult was fulfilling.”

James said Muhammad Ali showed him the way to victory (“his was a lucid and polite madness, with much method, he didn’t speak so much as to open his mouth but was prepared about everything he talked about”). Upon the great heavyweight’s passing, LeBron donated 2.5 million to the Smithsonian, the foundation tasked with honoring his memory, and is making a film with his production company.
