Ducati: Marc Marquez Speaks Candidly About Teamwork with His Brother Alex

Ducati rider Marc Marquez spoke at a press conference in Sepang about his thoughts ahead of the Malaysian race weekend: “My mindset is the same as always—to give 100%. We’re at a point in the championship where it’s time to take risks, like I did in Australia, and I’ll try to give 100% in every session to see if we can compete with the factory Aprilia bikes. We have all the data and we’re focused, but focus alone doesn’t give you speed.”
There’s talk of team orders at Aprilia; the same could happen at Ducati with him and his brother Alex, as we’ve already seen to some extent in Australia: “Sometimes between brothers, you don’t even need to talk about it. He’ll try to win, just as I will, and then over the weekend, each of us will do what we have to do.”
Jorge Martin will be there: “I’m happy to see Martin on the track; a rider will always give it his all. With the new medical protocol introduced in recent years, if they’ve cleared him, it means it’s safe, and if he’s on the track, he’ll be fast, too. It’s surprising, because the radio is a large part of the bike that bears a lot of load, but as I’ve always said, adrenaline is the best painkiller, and Martin has already proven in the past that he’s a great fighter.”
His past struggles at Sepang: “In some years I’ve struggled, in others I’ve been very competitive. Since I joined Ducati, though, it’s never been a bad track for me, especially in testing and in 2024 when I was close to Martin and Pecco in the race. We’ll see—on this track, you need a different riding style for time trials and for the race, because over the distance, tire wear is very high, as we saw last year.”
