Ronchi Memorial – BCC Cup 2026: Seregno Wins Gold and Garbagnate Wins Silver

Seregno wins the Gold Tournament, Garbagnate takes home the Silver, and the Ronchi Memorial – BCC Cup 2026 wraps up with a new attendance record: 20 teams, four gyms involved, and a sold-out crowd at the PalaBertelli in San Giorgio su Legnano for the final day. These are the results of the mini-basketball event that, on Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, brought hundreds of young basketball players, coaches, chaperones, and families to the Alto Milanese region, transforming the tournament—sponsored by BCC di Busto Garolfo e Buguggiate—into a grand celebration of youth sports.
The tournament is named after an executive who contributed significantly to the birth and development of the minibasketball movement in the Alto Milanese region, leaving a legacy that continues to be honored through an annual event that engages new generations of children every year. “Ronchi was one of our executives who helped us tremendously, especially in building the Centro Minibasket Altomilanese movement,” recalls Paolo Ponzelletti, president of the Centro Minibasket Altomilanese. “We are pleased to honor his memory every year through this tournament, which is a time for fun, friendship, and togetherness. I believe the event truly embodies the spirit of the person he was. There are people who, through what they do, leave a mark and continue to be present even in the years that follow. The Memorial is our way of remembering him, helping children experience the values he held dear.”
The tournament is enjoying ever-increasing success. In the Gold bracket, the victory went to Seregno, which finished ahead of Desio, while in the Silver bracket, OSL Garbagnate came out on top, again ahead of Desio, which fielded two teams in the tournament. These two results capped off a weekend of matches played in San Giorgio su Legnano, Busto Garolfo, and Dairago, with the twenty teams divided into four groups and competing first in Saturday’s qualifying rounds and then in Sunday’s finals.
The most significant development in the 2026 edition is the tournament’s growth, expanding from 16 teams last year to 20 this year, setting a new record for the event. This increase required a significant organizational effort, without compromising the quality of the hospitality or the smooth running of the games. “Even as the tournament continues to grow, we always manage to maintain excellent organizational standards and a positive image,” says Paolo Ponzelletti, head of tournament organization at the Altomilanese Minibasket Center. “I had the opportunity to speak with coaches from other clubs and received very positive feedback. Everyone said they were satisfied with the organization and, above all, told me that the children had a great time. This is the feedback that pleases us the most, because it means we’ve succeeded in offering a wonderful sporting experience to all participants.”
The closing ceremony on Sunday, November 1, drew a particularly large crowd, as the teams gathered at the PalaBertelli in San Giorgio su Legnano for the awards ceremony. Packed stands, applause for the young athletes, and the presence of families marked the conclusion of two days in which athletic competition went hand in hand with fun and the opportunity to meet children from other basketball communities. “The final awards ceremony was truly a wonderful moment, with so many people at the arena,” Ponzelletti continued. “It was great to see all these families gathered to cheer on the children and celebrate the end of the tournament. We received great feedback from everyone, from the coaches to the parents and guardians. When organizing events of this scale, being able to maintain this atmosphere of enthusiasm is a significant achievement.”
