Perugia in scudetto final, end of tricolor dream for Piacenza

It is the Scudetto final for Sir Susa Vim Perugia. A goal conquered by closing the series against Piacenza in three games, with as many clear victories, daughters of character, solidity and team spirit. Three challenges in which the Emilian lineup led by coach Boninfante, penalized by the absences of an offensive reference such as Efe Mandiraci and, from game 2, also of Galassi, was nevertheless able to raise the level of the competition, making each confrontation intense and hard-fought.
This evening, at the PalaBarton in Pian di Massiano, Perugia won with a dry 3-0, at the end, however, of a match that was anything but simple, capable of offering great entertainment to the public. The first set was emblematic: Piacenza, now with nothing to lose, pushed hard from the start, finding important breaks and forcing the hosts to chase for a long time. In the final, however, the Umbrian team cancelled three set points (from 21-24), dragging the partial to the advantages and closing it 27-25. It was a key episode, which steered the match: in the following sets Perugia handled with more confidence, winning 25-21 and 25-15.
In the HCL camp, the absence of the Turkish setter, used only in a few exchanges in the first set, still had an impact. On the opposite side, however, Sebastian Solè was back from the first minute, an absolute protagonist with 11 points, 4 walls and an excellent 88% in attack, numbers that earned him the recognition of MVP.
Captain Giannelli and his teammates closed the match with 58% offensive efficiency and 8 walls, confirming also at the service what was good shown in game 2 (precision and few errors): just 8 hitting errors and 5 ace overall.
Now the gaze is turned to the final: game 1 is scheduled for Thursday, April 30, in Perugia, where the Block Devils are waiting to know the opponent, who will emerge from the semifinal between Verona and Civitanova.
