Bayern Munich eliminated Real Madrid at the end of a spectacular match played at the Allianz Arena. The German champions beat the Blancos 4-3 (with refereeing controversy) and qualified for the semifinals after also winning the first leg match 2-1 in Madrid. Kompany’s team will face in the next round defending champions PSG, who eliminated Liverpool on Tuesday. In the evening’s other match, a 0-0 draw was enough for Arsenal to qualify for the semifinals by virtue of a 1-0 first-leg win at Sporting Lisbon.Arteta’s team will take on Simeone’s Atletico Madrid for a place in the final.

A memorable match is staged in Munich. Real Madrid is on a great night and takes advantage early on of Neuer’s incredible mistake on disengagement, who blunders and serves Guler who from 40 meters pierces him after just 50 seconds. Bayern like the great team it is reacts and at 6′ equalizes with Pavlovic’s header, Real’s goalkeeper Lunin guilty.

The challenge is played at a very high pace, Bayern seems to take control but Real at 29′ finds the 2-1 with a splendid free kick by Guler. Less than 10 minutes pass and the hosts equalize: at 38′ Kane receives in the box and right-footed a shot beats Lunin to make it 2-2. Real Madrid, however, went back on the attack, first hitting a crossbar with Lunin, then in 42′ making it 3-2 with Mbappé on an assist from the Brazilian.

After the dazzling first half, the second half did not disappoint either: Kompany threw Davies into the fray, Bayern went on the attack while Real Madrid was scary on the counterattack, Neuer redeeming himself on Mbappé. The Blancos wasted with Diaz and Vinicius, Lunin overcame on Olise.

The turning point came in the final: newcomer Camavinga got himself sent off for a double yellow card in the 87th minute (the second for delaying the resumption of play, big protests on the pitch), and two minutes later Bayern in numerical superiority found the 3-3 goal with a Luis Diaz’s looping finish.

The Allianz Arena is in delirium and finally explodes at 94′, when Olise closes the game with another gem: Bayern in the semifinals, at the triple red whistle for protests also to Guler. Inevitable a controversial coda in the post-match for the decisions of referee Slavko Vinčić.
