Diana Bacosi is paired with Luigi Busà

Jiovanni Malagò announced it late Wednesday morning during the CONI Executive Board Meeting, organized for the first time in Umbria: Diana Bacosi will be the Italian flag-bearer at the Mediterranean Games scheduled from June 25 in Oran (Algeria). Alongside her will be Luigi Busà, Olympic Champion in Karate and Tokyo 2020. In the wake of what has already happened at the Japanese Games, CONI, Italy will thus have two flag bearers.

“I am honored to have been chosen as flag bearer,” commented Bacosi, born in Città della Pieve in 1983 and a bearer of the Italian Army, who in her palma res has an Olympic gold medal won in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and a five-circle silver medal struck in Tokyo last year. “Representing one’s own country is a great honor and I admit I am very excited,” she added. “I thank President Malagò and Fitav President Luciano Rossi, doubly grateful because the choice was communicated during a historic meeting hosted by the region where I was born and from where my sporting life in Shooting started.”
