In Udine, Torino fans make a request to Urbano Cairo

In Udine, Torino president Urbano Cairo hardly enjoyed the match. In addition to the team’s performance, he also had to reckon with the protest of fans in the visiting sector, who before, during and after the match chanted chants against him, repeatedly asking him to surrender the club. In Cremona, the Alexandrian publisher was not present and had not witnessed the Granata’s dull 0-0 draw against Marco Giampaolo’s Grigiorossi. Instead, in Friuli, he returned to follow the team live, but without seeing signs of improvement: indeed, the balance was even more negative, as Torino returned without bringing home any points.
On the field, the 2-0 defeat at the Bluenergy Stadium told a clear story: Udinese dominated thanks to goals by Ehizibue, who scored at the end of the first half on Obrador’s mistake, and Kristensen, who took advantage of a corner at the beginning of the second half to double his header. The Granata, deprived of Zapata, Adams and Ismajli, never managed to make themselves really dangerous, and “Cholito” Simeone, called upon to drag the attack along with Kulenovic, did not make an impact. With this result, Torino remains 13th with 41 points, while the Bianconeri rise to 47 and move up to 10th place.
The difficult moment on the pitch inevitably fuels discussions about the future of the bench. Cairo, asked in recent weeks by Sky, had said he was satisfied with Roberto D’Aversa’s work, stressing that the Abruzzo coach had been “good at immediately getting into the players’ heads,” adding, however, that a final decision on confirmation had not yet been made. Meanwhile, according to reports in Tuttosport, the name of Gennaro Gattuso has already ended up on the president’s list as a possible alternative, with the first contacts reportedly having already taken place: a prospect that has sharply divided the Granata fans on social media.
