Massimiliano Allegri’s future at Milan is increasingly uncertain. The season that started well but became complicated in the end, due to a series of negative results that is jeopardizing a Champions League qualification that only a month ago seemed a foregone conclusion, has created great tension in the Rossoneri environment. The Livorno-born coach, who returned to Milan with the goal of bringing back stability and competitiveness, instead finds himself at a crossroads that could call into question any kind of certainty he has acquired so far.

Since a series of disagreements over sports management and the construction of the squad, especially in reference to the January market, the climate is marked by internal discontent that has ignited debate, even among fans. In the last few hours, however, a new hypothesis has emerged that could completely redraw Milan’s balance: the arrival of Tony D’Amico, current sporting director of Atalanta. A rumor that, if confirmed by facts, would have immediate repercussions precisely on Allegri’s future.

D’Amico represents a strong, autonomous profile, accustomed to working with wide decision-making freedom. His eventual appointment would effectively mark the end of the Allegri-Tare duopoly, a pair the management had chosen last summer to restart after a disappointing 2024-2025 beyond the Italian Super Cup won in January. The entry of a new diesse would completely change the outlook: new ideas, new methods, and above all, new names for the bench.

Among them, there could be that of Raffaele Palladino. The coach from Campania, who is also now at Atalanta, does not have a foregone confirmation for next season, especially in light of the imminent arrival of Cristiano Giuntoli as the new head of Dea’s sports area. Palladino is a coach whom D’Amico esteems and knows well, and who could become the first choice in the event of a Rossoneri revolution.

In this scenario, another element weighs on Allegri’s future: the possibility of coaching the national team. With the Azzurri cycle set to reopen next summer, Allegri’s possible farewell to Milan would in fact place him in pole position to lead Italy. An opportunity that the coach from Livorno could seriously consider, especially if the new revolution materializes in Milan.
