Marco Bezzecchi expressed all his bitterness to the Sky microphones for ninth place in the Sprint race of the Catalan Grand Prix. The World Championship leader suffered with his Aprilia as never since the beginning of the year, “Unfortunately, today was a tough day. I never felt good on the bike. I wasn’t accelerating or braking hard. I just couldn’t give my best. At the beginning I took a few positions, but then I lost them quickly. I knew I couldn’t make the podium so I put myself there without forcing.”

Bezzecchi after Friday’s free practice didn’t find himself again: “Since then I didn’t have good feelings, unfortunately. The rear tire? I didn’t have a great confidence in entry and acceleration, but my performance today certainly didn’t depend on that.”

The Italian rider remained leader of the World Championship only because of the fall of his teammate Jorge Martin, who on the contrary despite the crash felt good sensations: “The feeling was excellent but after 3 falls you can’t push to the maximum because you don’t have more pieces. I had a great pace but I lost some time in some overtaking.”

On the crash: “Thank God I’m okay. I thank the team because I may have some pains but they did a resounding job getting the bikes back together. Maybe I was a little too optimistic in turn 10 there was also some wind and I slipped.”
