Surprise in Zaragoza, Marco Spissu’s future all to be determined: there's already a candidate

Big surprise at Casademont Zaragoza, the team in which Marco Spissu plays. Joan Plaza is no longer the coach of the Aragonese. The club has decided to abruptly terminate the relationship with the Catalan coach in an attempt to straighten out the season and avoid a relegation to the Primera FEB that seems increasingly likely and that, of course, would also lead to the farewell of the strong Sardinian basketball player, given out anyway even in case of salvation. In short, the suitcase in hand is already there and there is no shortage of suitors: a return to Banco is unthinkable, watch out for the Fortitudo hypothesis in the event of promotion to A by the Felsinei.

“The club wishes to thank Joan Plaza for the work, commitment and professionalism shown during the period spent at the helm of the red-blue bench, as well as for the availability shown since his arrival in Zaragoza at a time of maximum competitive need.”

Plaza, to whom the club wishes “the best of luck in his next personal and professional challenges,” had been announced as coach of Casademont Zaragoza last Feb. 17 and had directed his first official match on March 7 against MoraBanc Andorra. Since then, he has led the team in 12 Liga Endesa matches, with a tally of 3 wins and 9 losses.

Casademont has decided to entrust the leadership of the team to Gonzalo García de Vitoria, until now Plaza’s assistant coach and former assistant also to Jesús Ramírez. Rodrigo San Miguel and Jorge Serna will be Gonzalo García’s assistants in the last three remaining games of the ACB.
