Ducati centaur Pecco Bagnaia was among the best in Friday’s practice for the Italian Grand Prix, where he finished in second position behind Fabio Di Giannantonio. The Lenovo team rider has an excellent feeling with Mugello and finished just 96 thousandths from the top: “This is an extremely favorable track for Ducati and it showed. Right from FP1 I felt good right away even though the conditions were not flawless. From that moment on I didn’t want to change anything at the set-up level, after all you can do so much with your body.”

“The grip is not high, the tires can destroy themselves in a short time, so the imperative is to get the bike turning, then for the rest you can put a patch on it with your riding,” Bagnaia continued.

The two-time MotoGP world champion is making progress with the bike: “This year I’m feeling a lot of grip at the rear, let’s say I’m missing the extra push. The Marquez brothers, on the other hand, are complaining about the front end, which I, on the other hand, fixed in Jerez.”

On the race favorite: “I think Di Giannantonio will be in the game. Tomorrow’s Sprint Race? It will be crucial to understand how much wear the soft tire will get. It will be difficult to take it too long.”
