Calciomercato Monza, a new start for Samuele Birindelli
It starts with the confirmation of a pillar a Monza that is back in the top division after only one year of purgatory: the biancorosso club has announced that it has extended the contract for the sports performance of Samuele Birindelli until June 30, 2028 with an option to renew it for a further season.
Since his arrival in Brianza in the summer of 2022, the ductile Tuscan outfielder has collected 129 appearances and 8 goals in the biancorosso. In the cavalcade that led Paolo Bianco’s team to the leap in category, the former Pisa player has been a great protagonist, scoring 5 goals in 37 matches in which he has been able to shine both in defense and midfield.
Of his most significant contributions in the Serie B season, the decisive goal scored on April 24 against Modena stands out, which had allowed Monza to momentarily hook Venice in first place in the standings. A goal that had perfectly embodied Birindelli’s dual soul: an outside player capable of affecting both the defensive and offensive phases.
The class of 1999 also took part in the final ride that led Monza to promotion through the playoffs. In the decisive return final against Catanzaro, Birindelli was lined up as a starter in Paolo Bianco’s three-man defense, helping to withstand the impact of the Calabrian comeback – which had stopped at 2-0 – and to secure the overall result favorable to the Brianzoli, already ahead 2-0 from the first leg thanks to goals from Hernani and Caso.
Birindelli’s link with Monza is one that has its roots in the summer of 2022, when the then CEO Adriano Galliani strongly wanted him as the sixth Italian in the squad, buying him outright from Pisa. An arrival that had a special flavor: the Tuscan player had in fact been an opponent of the Brianzoli in the Serie B playoff final won precisely by Monza, which had blown away promotion to Serie A from the Nerazzurri. With the Pisan club, Birindelli had collected 192 appearances and 7 goals in six seasons, before embarking on what turned out to be an increasingly central adventure in his career.
