Fiorentina, Vincenzo Italiano’s anger: “We need to grow.”
“Yet another game lost in the final minutes.”
Losing like that, with an own goal in the 92nd minute, and with the doubt — which remains — of having also suffered an adverse refereeing decision, just did not go down well with Vincenzo Italiano, the coach of Fiorentina who came out of the San Siro with much applause but zero points.
“In the first half we were more orderly, in the second half the game opened up a bit with several chances. We had them sharper, but this is yet another game lost in the final minutes because we have to grow at these junctures. We don’t bring home points that we deserved instead,” the coach began to DAZN microphones in the immediate aftermath of the match.
“We did not come here to deliver balls to Milan, we had personality without throwing away balls. In the first half we did it in egregious manners, in the second we made some mistakes: our fault was not closing a game that perhaps we could have taken home. The moment you have a chance you have to punish them, because then an episode makes you lose matches like this,” he concluded.
