On Monday afternoon, the Italian Basketball Federation announced the decisions of the Disciplinary Committee regarding Game 4 of the playoff finals between Rimini and Venice. A heavy-handed response against the home team, which is paying dearly for the behavior of its fans.

DOLE ITALIA RIMINI. A fine of €1,375.00 for the local fans disrupting the performance of the national anthem with chants and for sporadic collective throwing of non-projectile objects onto the court without hitting anyone (beer), which resulted, on two occasions, the temporary suspension of the game for a few minutes to allow the playing field to be dried [Art. 27.3 RG, Art. 27.6bc RG rec., Art. 24.4 RG].

Verona returned to Serie A after defeating Rimini 85-73 and closing out the playoff series 3-1. After Game 4, Coach Ramagli paid tribute to the opponents: “The first thing I’ll say is that it was a tremendous honor to play against a team that, despite the injury to one of its players—which gave them a big boost—performed exceptionally well. In front of a great crowd. Although Rimini didn’t walk away with the trophy, they’ll have to count this season as a tremendous one.”

Tezenis Verona thus joins Givova Scafati, which had secured promotion to the top flight at the end of the regular season.
