2026 World Cup: South Africa vs. Canada, Probable Lineups

On Sunday evening at 9:00 p.m. Italian time, South Africa will face Canada in the World Cup Round of 16. The two teams, both making their debut in the knockout stage, will face off at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Los Angeles.
Hugo Broos’s South Africa will be without Themba Zwane, who is suspended after being sent off against Mexico in the World Cup opener. Williams will be in goal, with Mudau, Okon, Mbokazi, and Modiba in front of him. Mokoena and Mbatha will anchor the midfield, while the attacking trio of Maseko, Mofokeng, and Appollis will be tasked with feeding Makgopa.
Jesse Marsch’s Canada finished Group B in second place behind Switzerland and ahead of Qatar and Bosnia and Herzegovina: Jonathan David and his teammates dream of making history, but first they’ll have to get past South Africa.
The Juventus striker will lead the attack alongside Oluwaseyi, with Buchanan, Saliba, Eustáquio, and Millar playing behind them. Laryea and Johnston will play as fullbacks, while De Fougerolles and Cornelius will form the center-back pairing protecting Crépeau’s goal.
