England continues its World Cup run, showing great character and relying on its star players. The English national team overcame the altitude at Azteca Stadium and a red card early in the second half (Jarell Quansah at 54′), defeating Mexico 3-2 and securing a spot in the quarterfinals.

Led by a brace from Jude Bellingham and a goal from Harry Kane, England became the first team to defeat Mexico at the World Cup in the famous Azteca Stadium and only the third team to win there in a total of 89 official matches.

“It was a crazy game. We had to find a way to win,” said Harry Kane, his voice hoarse and almost inaudible from all the celebration. “Despite the importance of the match, the opponents, and everything stacked against us, we found a way to win.” Harry Kane scored his sixth goal of this World Cup, bringing his total to 14 goals.

England’s dream of winning a second World Cup title—its first since 1966—continues. Now England faces its next challenge, scheduled for Saturday in Miami Gardens, Florida, against Erling Haaland’s Norway. A spot in the semifinals is at stake.
