Jannik Sinner, the former world No. 1, is stunned: “Only Federer did that”
Speaking on his podcast, Andy Roddick once again praised Jannik Sinner for his incredible determination and mental strength. The former world No. 1 compared the Italian to Roger Federer after Sinner won his second consecutive Wimbledon title—his fifth career Grand Slam at age 24. “Sinner is the most relaxed person I’ve ever seen—aside from Roger Federer—before a Grand Slam final. He seems to have total confidence; he’s so calm in the way he approaches things.”
According to Roddick, a clear sign of the South Tyrolean’s mentality is his celebrations at the end of the tournament: “His celebrations are unlike anyone else’s; you could already tell he was ready to start over an hour after the U.S. Open. All of this is a problem for the rest of the world.”
The numbers from the 2026 season speak for themselves and place Sinner in a historic league of his own. With 44 wins and only 3 losses, his 93.6% win rate places him among the top 5 best seasons of the Open Era, trailing only legendary seasons like those of Federer, Connors, and McEnroe.
His serve has become one of the hallmarks of this extraordinary season. Adriano Panatta, commenting on the subject, didn’t mince words: “Currently, Sinner’s serve is on par with the best servers of all time, not only because of his many aces but also because of his ability to always find the ace when it matters.” At Wimbledon, Sinner recorded 128 aces over the entire tournament, making him the player with the most aces served, while also topping the ATP statistics for the percentage of points won on both his first and second serves.
