Confidence is growing that F1 will return to Imola: the parallels with Las Vegas

All Italian Formula 1 fans are keeping their fingers crossed: there’s a strong desire to have two F1 races in Italy during the 2026 World Championship. Monza is just around the corner, but there could also be a second race in December, at Imola.

In fact, discussions are ongoing about the possible inclusion of Imola in the current F1 calendar, replacing Abu Dhabi. If that were to happen, the Imola Grand Prix would take place in early December. This has raised concerns about the less-than-ideal weather conditions (fog and low temperatures).

In reality, F1 has already experienced similar temperatures in Las Vegas without any tire-related issues. In short, the weather wouldn’t be a problem at all.

At this point, all we can do is wait and see what happens. Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of F1, has already let slip that Imola is a viable option. The presence of Imola’s mayor, Marco Panieri, was further evidence that this romantic option is being discussed. Italy is hopeful; Imola believes in it.
