Juventus Transfer Market: Douglas Luiz Is Staying; Talks with Lazio Regarding a Surplus Player

Douglas Luiz wants to make his mark at Juventus: according to reports in *La Gazzetta dello Sport*, the Brazilian midfielder believes he has a chance to prove himself this season with the Bianconeri and has regained his confidence under Luciano Spalletti, who has consistently included him in the recent summer friendlies.

The Brazilian feels like he’s part of the project and reportedly turned down an offer from Everton, which wanted to bring him back to the Premier League immediately. The former Aston Villa player is looking to bounce back after a few difficult seasons, and his performances in the preseason friendlies have vindicated Spalletti’s decisions; the player is improving and has delivered on the field. Douglas Luiz shone in the match against Chelsea, and the Tuscan coach will continue to test him in upcoming games, hoping he’ll become a key figure in the midfield.

Fabio Miretti, on the other hand, is almost certain to leave Turin. The Juventus midfielder is not central to the team’s plans and could be transferred to another Serie A club. After preliminary talks with Bologna—which did not come to fruition—the 2003-born player is reported to have been contacted by Lazio.
