Rome Transfer Market: Tony D’Amico Isn’t Giving Up and Is Planning a Blitz in London

Roma is now focusing its attention on the offense. Once Monday night’s match against Fiorentina is over, Tony D’Amico will try to take advantage of the final days of the transfer window to find a reinforcement on favorable financial terms. Particular attention is being paid to Jamie Gittens.

For the English talent—whose parents are from Barbados—the Giallorossi reportedly submitted a 3 million offer to Chelsea for a loan, accompanied by a 40 million buyout clause, but did not receive the Blues’ approval.

Chelsea, which just a year ago invested approximately 60 million to acquire the player from Borussia Dortmund, is demanding greater guarantees both financially and regarding the terms of the deal, preferring a mandatory buyout clause.

The two clubs’ positions therefore remain far apart, but Roma is not giving up on the deal and is waiting to see if, as the transfer window nears its close, more favorable conditions might arise to reopen negotiations. Gasp’s right-hand man is preparing a blitz in London.

However, Gittens is not the only name on D’Amico’s list to bolster the offense. The possibility of signing Malick Fofana, a 21-year-old from Lyon, remains open—albeit on hold—as the Giallorossi had already been pursuing him in recent weeks with an offer in the range of 35 million euros and a five-year contract worth approximately 2 million per season proposed to the player. The deal has become complicated, but it cannot be ruled out that it might be revived in the final hours of the transfer window.
