2026-2027 Premier League: Liverpool vs. Nottingham Forest—Probable Lineups

Liverpool and Nottingham Forest face off at 1:30 p.m. in their Premier League Matchday 2 clash. After drawing their opener at Newcastle, the Reds make their home debut against a Forest side reeling from a home loss to Leeds in the first round.
The home team, led by Iraola, is still in limbo regarding the transfer market (the coach is expecting further reinforcements). Isak will start as the center forward, with Ngumoha, Wirtz, and Gakpo in the attacking midfield. In midfield are Szoboszlai and Gravenberch, while the wings will be manned by Frimpong and Kerkez.
Oliver Glasner fields Jesus as the center forward, supported by Gibbs-White and Ndoye. In midfield, McAtee partners with Sangare, while Aina and Netz play on the flanks. The three defenders are Cunha, Milenkovic, and Murillo.
Liverpool vs. Nottingham Forest: Probable Lineups
Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Frimpong, Jacquet, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Szoboszlai, Gravenberch; Ngumoha, Wirtz, Gakpo; Isak. Head Coach: Iraola.
Nottingham Forest (3-4-2-1): Sels; Cunha, Milenkovic, Murillo; Aina, McAtee, Sangare, Netz; Gibbs-White, Ndoye; Jesus. Head Coach: Glasner.
“I know this is a day our fans have been eagerly awaiting ever since the schedule was released in June,” Iraola said at a press conference. “The first home game of the season is always special, and I can tell you it’s no different for the players, the staff, or me. The friendlies we played here during preseason gave us a great opportunity to enjoy the Anfield experience—whether it was the first or the last of many—and I couldn’t appreciate the support we received on those occasions more. It’s always true that if the energy is positive on the field, it almost certainly will be in the stands as well. Feeding off each other can give us a huge advantage, so we hope to start our home season by bringing out the best in one another.”
