Record-breaking pole for Marco Bezzecchi, who beat Marc Marquez at Aragon

The 2026 Aragon Grand Prix is in full swing with qualifying held this morning at the MotorLand Aragon circuit. The session determined the starting grid for both this afternoon’s Sprint Race—a shorter-distance event—and Sunday’s Grand Prix, the highlight of the Spanish race weekend. Marco Bezzecchi secured pole position, setting the fastest lap time aboard the factory Aprilia. This is a significant result for the Italian rider, who will start from the top spot with the goal of turning the speed he showed in the single-lap qualifying into a major result for the World Championship standings.

Marc Marquez will start right behind him. The factory Ducati rider, one of the pre-race favorites, will therefore have to move up one position right off the start to try to put pressure on Bezzecchi. Rounding out the front row is Alex Marquez, third on the Gresini team’s Ducati. The second row will be led by Raul Fernandez, fourth on the Aprilia Trackhouse. Fifth place goes to Jorge Martin, the World Championship leader, who will start on the other factory Aprilia. Beside him will be Pedro Acosta, sixth on the KTM.

Seventh place goes to Fabio Di Giannantonio, ahead of Francesco Bagnaia. The factory Ducati rider will therefore start from eighth place and will need to make up ground right from the Sprint Race. The third row is rounded out by Johann Zarco, ninth on the Honda, while Diogo Moreira will start from tenth position. Just outside the top ten is Fermin Aldeguer, eleventh, followed by Franco Morbidelli. Jack Miller is in thirteenth position, with Brad Binder fourteenth and Joan Mir fifteenth.
