Milan Transfer Market: Last-minute push for a new defender. Tomori set to leave

Time is against Milan: in the final hours before the summer transfer window closes, the Rossoneri will try to make one signing and one departure to sort out and strengthen the defense at Ruben Amorim’s disposal.

An offer from Fulham for Fikayo Tomori arrived on the very last day. As is well known, the English defender is no longer part of the Portuguese coach’s plans and has been asked to transfer to another club. At the moment, however, the center back has rejected all options, and his situation is at a standstill. Now Fulham has expressed interest, which would allow him to return to the Premier League to relaunch his career. But time is running out: the Rossoneri have already warned him that he’ll be out of the squad until January if he stays.

If Tomori were to leave, Milan could make a move for Tiago Gabriel: further talks are expected later today between the Milanese club and Lecce. Amorim has requested a new defender to boost the team’s quality, and the Rossoneri’s management is trying to speed up negotiations as the transfer window draws to a close.

Lecce has set a price tag of 25 million euros for the Portuguese player born in 2004, while Milan remains firm on its offer of 20 million euros. Gabriel himself is pushing for a move to Milan. Several wealthy Premier League clubs are also interested in him and could make a last-minute bid in the final hours. Also on the last day of the transfer window, Milan will try to offload midfielder Youssouf Fofana, who is being tracked by several English clubs and, in Italy, by Juventus and Roma.
