South Tyrol Takes Center Stage: In addition to Jannik Sinner, Dorothea Wierer is also in Monza

There are countless VIPs at the Monza Circuit for the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix, and two great sports champions hail from South Tyrol: in addition to tennis star Jannik Sinner, Dorothea Wierer—a multiple biathlon world champion who recently retired—was also a guest in the paddock.

Speaking to Sky, the former Italian national team member shared her passion for motorsports: “It’s always nice to be here—this is my second time in six or seven years. It’s great to meet people, see the athletes and the staff, and watch how the team works. These are all details you don’t see on TV; everything’s better in person.”

“What fascinates me? The athlete himself—how he handles the pressure and the heat. My favorite driver? I had the honor of meeting Kimi Antonelli, and I was blown away—he’s a down-to-earth, cheerful, and genuine guy.”

“What did Kimi say to me? We exchanged just a few words—he’s always in a hurry. He must be under insane pressure, but he seems completely calm. I’m amazed at how he manages it all.
