Juventus Transfer Market: Luciano Spalletti’s “No” Proves Useful

The emergency in midfield could present a new opportunity for Augusto Owusu. The injury that will keep Locatelli off the field for an extended period is forcing Luciano Spalletti to seek alternative solutions, and among them is the young talent from Juventus Next Gen, who may now get a chance to play with the first team.

Born in Turin in 2005, Owusu has practically grown up in the black-and-white colors. He joined the Juventus youth academy when he was just seven years old and worked his way through the entire youth system, with the sole exception of a loan spell at Reggiana during the 2022–23 season.

Starting in the 2024/25 season, he became a permanent fixture with Next Gen, gradually emerging as one of the team’s key players. So far, he has made 53 appearances, contributing two assists, though he has yet to score his first goal.

Owusu’s main strengths lie in his physicality, dynamism, and athleticism. He can play in front of the defense, but also as a box-to-box midfielder, capable of winning the ball back and quickly driving the team’s attack.

Spalletti has already had the chance to observe him closely over the summer, when he took him on tour with the first team. His performances convinced the coach and Juventus to keep him, abandoning the idea of another loan and allowing him to continue his development with Next Gen. Now, with Locatelli out, Owusu may get a new opportunity to play with the first team.
