Daniel Maldini was involved in a car accident that occurred on the northern outskirts of Milan in the early hours of Sunday morning, according to ANSA. The Cagliari soccer player sustained minor injuries and was taken to Fatebenefratelli Hospital for evaluation.

The accident involved six people, all of whom sustained minor injuries: two women aged 20 and 22, three men aged 19, 20, and 21, and Maldini. Three ambulances and a mobile medical unit responded to the scene; one of the injured was treated on site, while the other five were taken to the hospital.

On Saturday evening, Daniel Maldini took the field in Bergamo to face Atalanta, and his penalty kick goal in the 61st minute allowed Cagliari to take home three crucial points. The Sardinians had taken the lead thanks to Paul Mendy, then Gianluca Scamacca had equalized before Maldini’s goal.

“Daniel needs to stay in the game,” said Fabio Pisacane after the victory over Atalanta. “It’s normal that this year he also has a significant role to play when we don’t have possession.”

“My job is to talk to him often so he doesn’t lose focus. “In the first half, we wanted to mark Kessié tightly in midfield; in the second half, we moved Maldini a bit wider, but then we made another adjustment,” said the Rossoblù captain.
