After numerous preseason friendlies, it’s time to get down to business. On the weekend of September 19–20, the Italian Super Cup will take place in Tortona. In fact, the first trophy of the season will be awarded.

Armani Olimpia Milano will take the court on Saturday, September 19 (7:45 p.m.) against Virtus Bologna. It promises to be a thrilling matchup steeped in tradition between two of Italian basketball’s powerhouses. Coach Poeta’s team is aiming to win its third consecutive Italian Super Cup, to get the 2026–27 season off to the best possible start. It’s worth noting that the Milanese club holds the record for the most Italian Super Cup titles, having won six—the same number as Mens Sana Siena.

Ahead of this weekend’s game, the official presentation of all the new players on the 2026/27 roster is scheduled (Wednesday, September 16, at the headquarters of the new sponsor, TeamSystem). It will be an opportunity to get to know the many new faces better before things get serious.

At the same time, Coach Poeta intends to ramp up the intensity of training so the team can approach the matchup against the V Nere in the best possible physical condition—even though, of course, they’re still in the typical early-season adjustment phase.
