BC Roma is ready to raise the curtain and promises surprises

BC Roma is preparing to officially present the team that will compete in the 2026–2027 season—the first in the club’s history—and will do so with an event designed to engage industry professionals and the residents of the capital. On Tuesday, September 22, at 5:00 p.m., the PalaTiziano will open its doors for an Opening Show that, according to the organizing club, will combine “basketball, entertainment, talks, and many other surprises.”

The club explained that the event will be an important opportunity to get to know the roster and staff up close, as they will outline the athletic and organizational plans that will accompany the club’s debut on the national basketball scene. The Rome-based club has also decided to open its doors to the public: admission will be free, subject to availability, by filling out a form available on the club’s website.

BC Roma was founded in June 2026 following the acquisition of the sports rights of Vanoli Basket Cremona. The ownership group includes, among others, Donnie Nelson, former general manager of the Dallas Mavericks, and Luka Doncic, the Slovenian star currently playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. The management team also includes Valerio Bianchini as honorary president and Sergio Scariolo, who was hired by the club as a strategic advisor.

The roster, consisting of Nico Mannion, Paul Watson, Corey Davis, Giovanni Emejuru, Trentin Flowers, Erik Stevenson, Gerard Ayayi, Arturs Strautins, Giannis Odzebe, Marko Simonovic, Andrea Mezzanotte, and Mike Iuzzolino Jr., has been entrusted to head coach Alessandro Magro, assisted by Edoardo Casalone and Davide Bonora. In addition to the Serie A league, the club will also compete in the EuroCup with the goal of gaining international exposure for a project that aims to become part of NBA Europe.
