Messi called up for the match against Benin: his last game with Argentina will be on October 6

“Lionel Messi, Rodrigo De Paul, and Giovani Lo Celso will be present to participate in the final friendly match on October 6. The players called up from the domestic league, however, will be announced on Friday,” the AFA clarified in an official statement.

AFA President Chiqui Tapia announced La Pulga’s inclusion in the Albiceleste squad, allowing him to greet Argentine fans. “I want to tell all fans of the Argentine national team that, following a meeting with the head coach of the senior national team, Lionel Scaloni, we have decided to invite the best player in the world—the icon of our national team and our captain, Lionel Andrés Messi—so that he can receive the farewell he truly deserves on October 6, right here in Argentina,” the AFA official said in a video.
