Jannik Sinner: More Rumors About His New Coach

Jannik Sinner and Darren Cahill may part ways at the end of the season. The Australian super coach, who originally intended to leave the Italian’s team at the end of 2025, has agreed to stay for another year, but has given no indication that he plans to extend his tenure beyond the end of 2026.

Just like last year, rumors are intensifying about Sinner’s possible new coach, though he will remain with Simone Vagnozzi in any case. Juan Manuel Ferrero’s announcement on Tuesday evening sparked several rumors: Carlos Alcaraz’s former coach stated that he will return to coaching in 2027.

“This year I’m very relaxed: I’m enjoying my family and preparing for what lies ahead next year. I believe I’ll return to the ATP Tour, but I can’t say with whom,” he told Movistar TV. The statement inevitably sparked speculation, and the current world No. 1 is among the possible candidates.

But according to specialized Spanish media, the top contender could be Rafael Jodar, the latest rising star of Spanish tennis, who has had a sensational first year on the professional circuit and is currently coached by his father. Thanks to his consistency, Jodar has climbed to No. 14 in the rankings and is currently the only teenager in the top 150 of the world rankings.

Sinner’s longtime coach, Riccardo Piatti, in a recent interview with Corriere della Sera, had this to say about the South Tyrolean’s potential new coach: “I think Andy Murray would be a good fit: intelligent, experienced, and solid. In 2021, in Stockholm, he defeated a young Sinner in two sets, and after the match I went to talk with Andy. I think Darren will retire because he wants to do something else, but honestly, I don’t know.”
