The Macron Warriors Sabbioneta Are Aiming Higher and Higher
The Macron Warriors Sabbioneta sports project is not limited to the team’s brilliant competitive record in recent years, but also—and above all—to the club’s sensitivity to the needs of the many young men and women in the area who want to participate in sports. It was precisely with this goal in mind that a project was launched months ago to build a regional sports center dedicated, in part, to Paralympic training.
Regarding this project, Fabio Merlino, president of the Macron Warriors Sabbioneta, and the mayor of Viadana, Nicola Cavatorta, met in Milan at the Lombardy Regional Government building with Federica Picchi, the Lombardy Region’s Undersecretary for Sports and Youth, to present and highlight the sporting, social, and local value of a facility designed to be accessible, open, and barrier-free. This facility could be built in the Cicognara area—a hamlet of Viadana in the province of Mantua—adjacent to the Cogozzo-Cicognara preschool.
The project, promoted by the Macron Warriors, calls for the construction of a regional-level sports center also dedicated to Paralympic training. It would not merely be a gym limited to school use, but a facility capable of becoming a true sports center for comprehensive inclusion. A facility that can be used by local sports organizations and Paralympic clubs for training activities, allowing athletes to take advantage of services such as the cafeteria and guest quarters.
“This is an ambitious project that we’ve been working on for several months,” said Fabio Merlino, president of the Macron Warriors Sabbioneta. “We don’t simply want to build a sports facility. We want to create a place capable of generating opportunities for the entire region—a space open to sports, inclusion, community building, and personal growth. It’s a project that requires time, hard work, and the ability to engage local institutions and organizations, but precisely for this reason, we continue to move forward with even greater conviction. I’d like to thank Undersecretary Federica Picchi for her attention, for listening, and for the great support she’s shown us, and Mayor Nicola Cavatorta for the journey we’re sharing. Dreams become projects when you start working to make them a reality. And projects become reality when you’re able to work as a team. We continue to believe in this.”
A new and important step has been taken. A step born of the desire to build a network among institutions, sports organizations, and the local community, in the belief that sports can serve as a driving force for growth, participation, and inclusion.
