The first of two joint training sessions between Italy and Serbia ahead of the start of the European Championships was held this afternoon at the Wanny Palace in Florence. The Italian women’s team, who will open the continental competition on August 15 in the spectacular setting of the Arena in Verona against Romania, played five sets, winning all of them with the scores of 25-19; 25-19; 27-25; 25-23; 29-27 against the two-time world champions Serbia in a training that was useful for both teams to test their condition. CT Davide Mazzanti gave space to the whole roster at disposal receiving positive signals both from the physical and technical point of view.

At the start, Italy lined up with Orro-Nwakalor on the diagonal, Sylla and Pietrini on the set, Danesi and Lubian in the middle, and Fersino free. On the other side, Guidetti’s Serbia opened the test with Ognjenovic at the director’s position, Boskovic opposite, Lozo and Busa as setters, Stevanovic and Aleksic at the center, and Pusic at libero.

Attending the joint training, held behind closed doors, was Fipav president Giuseppe Manfredi, who came to Florence to visit the team. Tomorrow new joint training behind closed doors at PalaWanny with Serbia ahead of the end of the last pre-European gathering of the Azzurri.
