Mazzola: The ruling against Juventus sets the web ablaze; Inter is also punished

On Tuesday afternoon, the Disciplinary Committee issued its ruling regarding the events that took place during the latest round of Serie A matches. There was particular anticipation surrounding the Juventus-Atalanta match and the behavior of the Bianconeri ultras during the minute of silence for Sandro Mazzola. Among the fines imposed, one for Juventus was inevitable; however, the club got off with a €10,000 fine and no other sanctions—such as the closure of a section or the entire stadium—which Inter fans (who were themselves penalized) had been loudly demanding on social media.

Here are all the sanctions:

Fine of €10,000.00: imposed on JUVENTUS for failing to ensure that a small percentage of supporters crowded into the South Stand, 1st Tier, openly observed the minute of silence mandated by the F.I.G.C.; the penalty was reduced in light of the club’s prompt and formal response to the aforementioned reprehensible behavior, as well as the rest of the stadium crowd’s distancing themselves from it.

A fine of €6,000.00: imposed on FIORENTINA on the grounds of strict liability, for having unjustifiably caused a delay of approximately five minutes in the start of the second half.

Fine of €5,000.00: imposed on COMO on the grounds of strict liability for having unjustifiably caused a delay of approximately four minutes in the start of the first half. Fine of €5,000.00: imposed on Soc. FIORENTINA because its supporters, during the match, directed vulgar chants at the opposing team’s supporters.

A fine of €5,000.00: imposed on LAZIO for its supporters having, in the 8th minute of the second half, thrown four plastic bottles into a section occupied by supporters of the opposing team; penalty reduced pursuant to Art. 29, paragraph 1, subparagraph b) of the CGS. Fine of €5,000.00: imposed on VENEZIA for its supporters throwing four small plastic bottles into the section occupied by the opposing team’s supporters in the 6th minute of the second half; Penalty reduced pursuant to Art. 29, paragraph 1, subparagraph b) of the CGS.

Fine of €3,000.00: imposed on INTER for its supporters, at the 45th minute of the second half, directing an offensive chant at the opposing team’s coach.

Fine of €3,000.00: imposed on ROMA for its supporters having thrown two firecrackers onto the field during the match; penalty reduced pursuant to Art. 29, paragraph 1, subparagraph b) of the CGS. Fine of €1,000.00: imposed on INTER for its supporters throwing a small bottle onto the field during the match; penalty reduced pursuant to Art. 29, paragraph 1, letter b) of the CGS.
