Jannik Sinner’s ordeal continues: the South Tyrolean star has been sidelined for several months due to a knee injury and will not compete in the Shanghai Masters 1000, scheduled for October 7–18. Many were hoping for his return in China, but unfortunately, the champion has not yet regained his form.

In recent months, Jannik Sinner and his staff have remained extremely tight-lipped about the extent of the injury and his timeline for a return: which is not surprising, especially considering that the champion has always been very private; however, fans on social media are now mobilizing en masse to demand greater transparency.

In recent weeks, many had asked on social media for an official statement, and after the announcement that he would not be competing in the Shanghai Masters 1000, the number of users eager for updates has multiplied. “No one wanted to know the intimate details or medical records. What we’ve always asked for is just a bit of transparency,” wrote Eleonora on X, a sentiment echoed by Gianluca: “Enough with the self-protective rhetoric that he owes nothing to anyone, because there are millions of fans making sacrifices to pay top dollar for tickets. Enough with tournaments that exploit this by demanding last-minute withdrawals. Enough, too, with the relentless defense as if he were a little star without a sky, a seal pup threatened by poachers.”

Jannik Sinner announced his withdrawal from the Shanghai Masters 1000 via Instagram: “Unfortunately, I won’t be able to play in the Rolex Shanghai Masters this year as I had hoped. I’ve always enjoyed playing in front of the fans in Shanghai, and I’m very sorry I won’t be able to do so next week. Thank you for all your support. I can’t wait to see you all again next year.”

According to the latest information that has surfaced in recent days, Sinner is reportedly “clinically recovered” from the extra-articular tendon inflammation in his right knee, with his training sessions in Monte Carlo described as increasingly intense. However, the decision to skip Shanghai suggests a strategy of extreme caution for his return.
