Tragedy in the U.S.: Young American football player dies. He was 17 years old.

A terrible tragedy has struck the community of Marblehead, a town in Essex County in the state of Massachusetts (USA): Owen Coyne, a promising athlete at Marblehead High School and captain of the football team, has died at just 17 years old. The young man passed away due to complications arising from a brain hemorrhage.
“Our family is heartbroken over the loss of Owen,” wrote the Marblehead High School football team. “Owen was so much more than a captain and a teammate: he was a son, an older brother, and a friend to so many young people. His leadership, his laughter, his spirit, and his ability to bring people together will never be forgotten.”
“Our hearts go out to Owen’s family, his teammates, coaches, classmates, and friends. May they feel all the love and support of this community surrounding them. Please keep Owen’s family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers, and respect their privacy during this incredibly difficult time.”
A senior at Marblehead High School, Owen was an intelligent and kind young man, well-regarded both in the classroom and on the field. An exceptional student, he never shied away from academic challenges, taking almost exclusively Advanced Placement (AP) courses and maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA.
A three-sport athlete, he was currently the proud captain of the Marblehead Magicians’ football team. He also competed on the varsity baseball and track and field teams, sports in which his dedication, determination, and talent made him a standout athlete.
Among the many awards and honors he received over the years, he was particularly proud of the Charles Lovely Student-Athlete Award, presented to him at the end of last football season. Owen had recently announced his intention to continue his college education at Williams College, a future toward which he had worked with extraordinary dedication.
