“Volleyball was my first love. It made me the person I am today, teaching me values like sacrifice, discipline, and dedication.” This is how Stefania Corna, who died yesterday at just 35 years old after losing her battle with cancer, described herself on Instagram, recalling her past in Serie A1 as a setter for teams such as Bergamo, Casalmaggiore, and Scandicci.

Then came a second chapter in her life. A life in which volleyball was no longer her job, but continued to be a fundamental part of her identity: “It allowed me to travel the world, win medals with the national team, meet amazing people, and learn the value of hard work.” Stefania had turned another passion into her profession and become an English teacher: “Languages quickly became my passion. Over the years, I discovered a knack for helping others and decided to develop my talent.”

“In recent years, I’ve also worked in schools and discovered a side of myself I didn’t know: I love teaching children.” A life shared on social media through photos, family, work, and projects. A life in which Stefania never forgot to thank those around her—but also herself. “I thank the children for being beautiful blank pages waiting to be colored. I thank myself for my strength and for my determination to carry out my projects.”
