Rafael Leao’s time in Turkey continues to be a source of disappointment. The Galatasaray forward, who entered the game against Genclerbirligi in the 61st minute, had to leave the field just a quarter of an hour later due to a physical issue.

The former Milan forward, who so far has neither shone nor made an impact in the Istanbul Lions’ jersey, had come on after an hour of play to replace Leroy Sané, with the score tied at 0-0. Coach Okan Buruk had hoped he could turn the match around, but the Portuguese winger lasted just 15 minutes: in the 77th minute, he was substituted due to a foot injury.

“We have a Champions League match in three days, but we’ve lost Leao because of the condition of the field,” explained Buruk, who was particularly angry, after the game. Galatasaray ultimately won 1-0 thanks to an own goal by Egribayat.

So far, the former Milan star has played in only six matches, starting in four of them. He has recorded just one assist so far.
