Luciano Spalletti discusses two possibilities, but his job is increasingly at risk

Despite his suspension following the match in Cagliari, it was Luciano Spalletti who spoke on behalf of Juventus after the crushing 3-0 loss to Lazio. “This was a subpar Juventus team, lacking control of the game and any clear direction for how to approach it. It’s also hard to explain. After Thursday’s game, we didn’t do any training and decided to let the players recover with our staff. I tried to make changes—I think with six new players—but we were slow both physically and mentally. If you’re late to the ball and don’t bring pace and heart, then no tactics or systems of play can help you,” Spalletti told DAZN.

What might be the next steps for the coach and his Juve? “We need to analyze the situation. We lacked rhythm, ideas, and running. We were also fragile in terms of our reaction when we lost one-on-one battles. There were many attitudes I didn’t like. We need to dig deep into our character, because we have to show a reaction without giving in to circumstances. Our future doesn’t depend on luck, but on our determination.”

The Serie A record stands at 11 points in 7 games, one less than in 2025/26: “We have only two options: talk to the team and change our approach. Something needs to be changed. I, too, was a bit surprised by this performance, so I need to think it through carefully. I’ve always sought to foster a sense of shared purpose and involve the players, talking with the group to build a good relationship with each one. What we did today is absolutely not good enough.” Spalletti’s position appears increasingly precarious, while rumors about Antonio Conte as a possible replacement are growing ever more persistent.
