Szczesny and the penalty: “Parried thanks to Juve”
Poland goalkeeper: “We found a method of analyzing penalty takers that works”
Wojciech Szczesny stole the show at the World Cup in Qatar by saving a penalty in the match against Saudi Arabia. After the match to the microphones of Gazzetta dello Sport the Poland goalkeeper explained his secret: “At Juve we have found a method of analyzing penalty takers, in the last two years the penalties saved are more than the penalties conceded.”
“I would say that the method works, every now and then I parry them, but now you don’t want to give all the credit to Filippi (goalkeeper trainers ed.) eh?” the Juventus goalkeeper joked. Now it’s Argentina: “At the World Cup you face the strongest players in the world, that’s the beauty of it. With all due respect to the Saudi Arabian players, I want to compare myself with the best and Messi is definitely one of them. It’s a good stimulus.”
