Scafati Faces a Huge Fine for What Happened in Bologna

Scafati has been hit with a hefty fine for what happened in Bologna: Piero Bucchi’s team, which lost 108-83 to the Vu Nere, was penalized by the FIP for failing to comply with regulations regarding roster composition.
Here is the official statement: “LONGOBARDI SCAFATI. A fine of 50,000.00 euros because, after notifying the FIP via email on October 8, 2026, of the switch from the 5+5 format to the 6+6 format, the team listed only five Italian-trained players on the game sheet, failing to meet the minimum number of Italian-trained players required to be listed. The game is ratified with the result achieved on the court, as it is more favorable to the opposing team, Costa Bologna [Art. 13.4, paragraph 2, DOA].”
The sanction imposed by the FIP comes at a very difficult time for Bucchi’s team, which remains stuck at zero points after the first four league games following losses to Udine, Varese, Verona, and, indeed, Virtus Bologna.
Artificial Intelligence (Chat GPT Plus version), when queried by Sportal.it, sees little chance of a comeback for the Salerno team and, in its prediction of the final standings, has placed Moore and his teammates in last place.
Predicted final standings: Virtus Bologna 50 points; Olimpia Milano 48; Reyer Venezia 42; Napoli 38; Trento 36; Tortona 34; Trieste 32; Verona 32; Treviso 30; Reggio Emilia 28; Udine 28; Maxima Roma 26; Varese 24; BC Roma 20; Cantù 16; Scafati 16.
Of course, it’s precisely at the bottom of the standings that four matchdays tell us the least. Just a couple of consecutive results are enough to completely change the outlook, just as a new signing or an injury can shift the balance.
