The Italian golf community is mourning the passing of Luigi Zappa, a golf instructor and a leading figure in the sport in Italy. The Italian Golf Federation announced the news in a statement: “Golf instructor Luigi Zappa has passed away, leaving his loved ones in grief. Born in Monza, he was 57 years old.”

“A member of a family with a long-standing and indissoluble connection to golf, he dedicated his entire life to the sport and, in particular, to teaching. He turned professional in 1990 and became a certified instructor in 1995 upon graduating from the National Golf School. His base of operations was the Adriatic Golf Club in Cervia, where, among other things, he coordinated and coached the Youth Club and the men’s and women’s competitive teams.”

“Particularly highly regarded as a specialist in the short game, he collaborated over the years with the Italian Golf Federation. He was one of four cousins—along with Nicola, Carlo, and Roberto, who is currently the Technical Director of the FIG national teams—who founded the Zappa Golf School, which later became the Italian Golf Academy, a leading institution in golf instruction throughout Italy.”

“At this time of great sorrow, the Italian Golf Federation stands in solidarity with the family, together with the entire national golf community and all those who had the opportunity to know him and appreciate his profound human qualities, expressing our most sincere and heartfelt condolences.”
