Inter defeated Venezia 2-0 in the closing minutes of the match played at the Penzo Stadium as part of the ninth matchday of Serie A. It was a tougher game than expected for the Nerazzurri, who secured the win thanks to two own goals in three minutes and remain tied with Lazio for first place in the standings. However, the home team protested vehemently following Inter’s first goal.

In the 80th minute, Inter broke the deadlock thanks to an own goal by Moreno, who deflected a cross from Thuram into his own net, but Venezia coach Davide Nicola complained about an alleged prior foul by Carlos Augusto that led to the play.

DAZN’s video analyst Luca Marelli didn’t mince words: “Zielinski’s recovery of the ball came after a foul committed by Carlos Augusto on Sohm. With his left leg, he doesn’t touch the ball but Sohm’s calf, and in my opinion, it’s a foul.”

Venezia had previously complained about a questionable contact between Bisseck and Lauberbach in the Nerazzurri’s penalty area, but referee Pairetto let play continue despite the home team’s protests.
