Alajbegovic-Boga: Juventus-Napoli ends 2-0

Juventus defeated Napoli 2-0 with goals from Alajbegovic and Boga, both of whom scored in the second half: the former Atalanta player’s goal came while the Azzurri were down to ten men following Marianucci’s red card.
The match began in a particularly tense atmosphere, with a section of the Juventus fans immediately voicing their discontent with the team. Chants of protest rang out from the stands, while on the field, the two teams spent a brief period sizing each other up. The first big chance came in the 7th minute, when Lucca managed to get a header off from close range, only to be denied by an extraordinary save from Vicario, who did well to dive and prevent Napoli from taking the lead.
The match gradually heated up, even in terms of intensity. In the 12th minute, Anguissa remained on the ground after a collision with Koopmeiners, forcing the referee to stop play so the medical staff could attend to him. Napoli was temporarily down a man, while Juventus tried to increase the pressure. In the 16th minute, Douglas Luiz received a yellow card, followed four minutes later by Lucumì. In between, in the 19th minute, Woltemade attempted a volley off a cross from the left by Alajbegovic, but the ball went wide.
Juventus nearly took the lead in the 27th minute when Cabal hit the post to Meret’s right. On the rebound, no Juventus player was able to get the winning tap-in. Three minutes later, it was Napoli’s turn to have a golden opportunity: Lang received the ball in a favorable position but shot over the bar from close range. In the 31st minute, the home team had another chance, but Alajbegovic failed to hit the target from just a few steps out.
In the 37th minute, Marianucci was booked for dangerous play, while Juventus managed to more effectively contain their opponents’ attempts to play the ball forward. The last chance of the first half came once again from Alajbegovic, but the Napoli goalkeeper responded promptly, stretching out to make the save. After two minutes of stoppage time, the teams headed into the locker rooms with the score tied at 0-0.
Upon returning to the field, Juventus and Napoli immediately sought to create chances to break the deadlock. In the 54th minute, the Piedmontese side had a good opportunity on the counterattack, but Kolo Muani squandered a two-on-one situation by misplacing a pass to Alajbegovic, allowing the Napoli defense to recover. Two minutes later, the Bianconeri threatened again with a cross from the left by Douglas Luiz: Marin beat Woltemade to the ball with a header but nearly caught his own goalkeeper off guard, sending the ball just wide.
In the 59th minute, Luciano Spalletti decided to make his first substitution of the second half, bringing on Zhegrova for the underwhelming Kolo Muani to inject more energy into the attack. Napoli responded in the 61st minute, when Vergara replaced Politano. The match remained closely contested, with Juventus trying to increase the pressure and the Azzurri looking to exploit the spaces left open by their opponents. In the 64th minute, Bremer got a header off following a corner kick, but his attempt, though well-directed, was too weak to trouble Meret, who made the save with ease.
In the 70th minute, the play that changed the game occurred. Kerim Alajbegovic finds space to shoot from distance and unleashes a powerful, precise left-footed strike that finds the back of the net, leaving Meret with no chance to make a save. An unstoppable shot that put Juventus up 1-0 and sent the Allianz Stadium into a frenzy.
Immediately after the goal, Spalletti made another move from the bench, bringing on Kelly and Boga while Lucumì and Alajbegovic himself left the field. Before reaching the bench, the goal scorer receives a hug from the Juventus coach, who congratulates him on the decisive play. Juventus thus finds itself in the lead, while Napoli is forced to react in the closing minutes to try to level the match but is reduced to ten men after Marianucci receives his second yellow card.
The Azzurri fail to create any real danger, and it is Juventus who double their lead through Boga, who leaves Meret with no chance with a long-range shot. The final chance falls to Gilmour, but his shot goes wide, and the match ends 2-0.
